3 Remedies to Cure Dry Scalp
We have posted 3 natural remedies you can do at home to help stop and prevent from a dry & itchy scalp.
Method #1 – Scrub:
This first method shows you how to make a scrub to exfoliate the scalp from dead skin cells and other gunk that causes your scalp to feel itchy.
Ingredients:
3 tbsp. Coconut Oil
2 tbsp. Oatmeal
1 tbsp. Brown Sugar
Mix together and apply directly to your scalp while your hair is wet. Massage the mixture onto your scalp and use your fingertips to exfoliate.
Rinse with lukewarm water after about 10 minutes, and be very careful not to get any in your eyes. Also, coconut oil is very slippery and can clog the drains as it hardens. Try and remove as much of the mixture as you can and throw it in the trash before rinsing your hair.
You may also want to put a small towel to step on as coconut oil is very slippery and we wouldn’t want any of you getting hurt.
Method #2 – Baking Soda Tea tree Oil Shampoo:
This one is probably the simplest. Just mix 1 teaspoon baking soda and 2 drops tea tree oil into your shampoo before washing your hair. The baking soda is a mild abrasive that cleans the scalp of bacteria and dead skin cells that make your scalp feel itchy. The tree oil has anti-septic healing properties to keep your hair healthy.
Method #3 – Oil Scalp Treatment:
This method consists of using oil to treat and soothe the scalp. Just mix 1 part almond oil (about 2 tablespoons) with 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon sea salt. Apply to your hair and scalp, using a comb or your fingers to work the mixture into your hair. After about 15 minutes, rinse using lukewarm water and dry your hair with a cotton shirt and try not to rub the scalp, but pat dry.
All these methods are safe to do once a week and up to 3 times per month.
